WhatsApp OTP: When opting for OTP delivery through WhatsApp, the user's mobile number is processed via the WhatsApp Business API to deliver the OTP message. This is conducted securely, in accordance with Meta’s privacy and security standards.
WhatsApp Compliance
Consent: Users must explicitly opt in to receive OTP messages on WhatsApp by entering their mobile number and confirming their preference. All WhatsApp messages are transactional and strictly limited to authentication; no promotional or unsolicited messages are sent via WhatsApp.
Data Protection: All OTP transmissions to WhatsApp use secure, encrypted channels as required by Meta. The WhatsApp Business Platform adheres to global data protection standards (including GDPR) to protect user privacy and prevent unauthorized access.
Transparency: The platform is clearly identified in all communications via WhatsApp. Users can opt out of WhatsApp OTP delivery by choosing an alternative login method or removing their WhatsApp number from their profile.

OTPs are temporary, single-use codes and expire shortly after issuance, minimizing security risks. No OTPs are stored beyond what is necessary to complete the authentication process.
All communication, whether by email or WhatsApp, is protected using the service provide’s encryption during transmission from the service provider.
The platform does not use WhatsApp contact details for any purpose other than authentication, in line with Meta’s guidelines and applicable privacy regulations.

Information that may be visible to other users: Depending on what you provide, certain profile elements may be displayed to other users within the listings, such as your city, general preferences, budget range, lifestyle-related answers, a short bio, and any photos you choose to upload. Direct contact details (such as phone number, WhatsApp number, or email address) are not displayed by default in the Roommate Matching listings and should only be shared by you at your discretion.
How we use your information: We use your information to operate, maintain, and improve the Roommate Matching service, including to (1) create and manage your profile and show it within the listings, (2) enable search, filtering, and compatibility-based browsing, (3) provide internal messaging and manage related subscriptions/eligibility, (4) detect and prevent abuse, fraud, spam, or harmful activity, and (5) comply with applicable laws and lawful requests.
Messaging, processing, and retention: When you use the internal messaging feature, we may process and store messages and related metadata (such as timestamps and account identifiers) to operate the service, investigate complaints, enforce our Terms & Conditions, prevent misuse, and comply with legal obligations. We retain such data for a reasonable period or as required by applicable laws.
Sharing of information: We do not sell or rent your personal data. Information Sharing with Potential Matches
Your profile information will only be shared with other users who are identified as potential roommate matches based on compatibility criteria. When a potential match is identified, only the information necessary for initial evaluation will be shared. You maintain control over what additional information you choose to share directly with matched users through phone, email, or any other means.
IMPORTANT NOTICE: Njoud does not verify the identity of Users for the matchmaking service and disclaims all liability arising from inaccurate, incomplete, or misleading User information. Parties engaging with Users through the matchmaking service are fully responsible for independently verifying identity and legitimacy.
Your Rights and Data Control
You retain full control over your personal data at all times. You have the right to:
• Access and review all personal information we hold about you
• Update or correct any inaccurate information in your profile
• Request complete deletion of your data from our systems at any time
• Withdraw your consent for data processing

Upon receiving a deletion request, we will permanently remove your data from our active databases within 72 hours, though some information may be retained in backup systems for a limited period as required by law.
